TON & Telegram

The Union

Telegram has been a pioneer in bringing blockchain technology into the mainstream, and its relationship with TON (The Open Network) reflects a shared vision of privacy, freedom, and decentralisation. In September 2023, Telegram officially endorsed TON as its Web3 infrastructure, further solidifying the platform's role in the future of decentralised technologies. This endorsement highlights Telegram’s commitment to integrating blockchain technology into its ecosystem, empowering users to connect and transact on their own terms.

TON is an open-source, decentralised blockchain platform, offering a foundation for Web3 applications, secure communications, and payments. In a move towards further decentralisation, earlier this year, TON also announced that Tether tokens could be issued on its blockchain, allowing Telegram users to send stablecoins directly within the app.

Mutual Growth and Accelerating Adoption

The partnership between Telegram and TON has been a powerful driver of mutual growth. As TON evolves, it has helped accelerate Telegram’s user acquisition by seamlessly integrating popular Telegram games with blockchain capabilities, making the platform more attractive to gamers and developers. It's easy to see why, statistics indicate that gaming companies with annual revenues below $1 billion typically allocate around 25% of their revenue to marketing, with some investing even more. This is significantly higher than the average marketing spend of other software companies, which hovers around 15%. Telegram has 900 million users sat waiting to play it give new gaming compoanies a mighty head start in one of the most challenging tasks of a product launch and has the potential to drastically cut marketing spend, freeing up more money for development and stepping into profitability. By providing a seamless, in-app Web3 experience, TON enables users to access blockchain technology without friction, fostering a growing and active community.

With Telegram's official endorsement of TON as its Web3 infrastructure, the TON ecosystem has seen a surge in adoption. This has translated directly into increased interest in the TON token, which has experienced a rise in value as users, developers, and investors recognise the potential of this integrated ecosystem. The collaboration between Telegram and TON demonstrates how blockchain can enhance traditional platforms, bringing more users into the Web3 space while providing added value through gaming, payments, and decentralised applications.

Acquisition in New Regions

The CEO of Bybit Ben Zhou spoke enthusiastically about the growth of the TON network in densely populated countries like Nigeria which accounts for 2.85% of the worlds total humans. He predicts “Bybit will partner with more TON projects and views it as a huge area of growth for the exchange.” Token 2049.

A Vision for the Future

Both Telegram and TON are built with privacy and freedom at their core, aiming to create a world where users have complete control over their communications and transactions. With a focus on democratising access to decentralised apps and services, the partnership between Telegram and TON opens up new possibilities for users and developers alike, setting the stage for the future of decentralised communications and financial systems.
